# Introduction

What BillPro is, how it works and what you can do with it

BillPro is a billing platform for card payments. You sell products to customers in orders, and BillPro collects the payments, including recurring ones. When you sign up for BillPro, you also get a merchant account with CardCorp.

With CardCorp, BillPro accepts Visa and Mastercard, and Apple Pay and Google Pay.

## How BillPro works

1. **Products**: the goods and services you sell, with their price and payment terms.
2. **Customers**: the people and companies you sell to, with their cards, orders and emails.
3. **Orders**: a customer buying your products. The order sets how they pay, and BillPro collects each payment.
4. **Payments**: take the first payment by phone or with a payment link. BillPro collects later payments and retries declined ones automatically.
5. **Order Portal**: where customers pay, see their order, manage their cards and download invoices, receipts and credit notes.
6. **Product Page**: a public link where customers buy a product on their own.

## Purchase types

* **Single payment**: one-off purchases, paid in full.
* **Instalment**: purchases paid over time, with an optional deposit and a payment schedule.
* **Subscription**: a fixed price charged at a regular interval until it's cancelled.
* **Metered**: usage-based billing, charged when you need to.

## Ways to take payments

* Phone payments with the virtual terminal
* Payment links by email or SMS
* A payment link to share in a chat, or a QR code for face-to-face payments
* A card the customer saved before

Customers pay at the BillPro checkout. After that, the same links open the order portal.

* **Catalogue**: set up taxes, discounts and fees, and decide which prices and terms your team can change in an order.
* **Customers**: keep customer details, cards, notes and tags in one place, and import customers from a CSV file.
* **Recurring billing**: schedule payments, retry declined ones, and reschedule, skip or merge payments when plans change.
* **Refunds and pre-authorisations**: refund payments in full or in part, and reserve an amount to capture later.
* **Currencies**: sell in several currencies with automatic or manual conversion rates.
* **Insight**: follow your orders and income on the dashboard, and download reports.
* **Integration**: use the REST API and webhooks to connect BillPro to your own systems, or add the checkout to your website.
