Create an instalment product

An instalment product is paid over time: an optional deposit, then equal payments on a schedule. An instalment order has one product.

Before you begin, you can set up taxes, discounts, fees, groups and units to reuse. See Create product groups and pricing elements.

Enter product details

1. On the navigation bar, click + and select Add Product. Or go to Products › Products List and click +.
2. Enter the Product Name. For a basic product with the price and schedule set in each order, you can stop here and skip to the price.
3. Optional: a Product ID, a Short Description, a Product Unit, and under More Options, a Long Description and a Product Group.
4. Click Next.

Choose the purchase type

Select Instalment and click Next.

Enter product pricing

1. Enter the Price: the full price, including any tax.
2. Choose the Currency.
3. Optional: click Show Fee and Discount to add a Fee or Discount, and select a Tax. BillPro calculates the tax after fees and discounts.
4. To stop users changing the price in orders, turn on Lock Price.
5. Click Next.

Enter the payment configuration

1. Enter the Deposit Amount to charge straight away. If it's 0, BillPro makes a small pre-authorisation to register the card instead.
2. Enter Split Balance by (count), the number of instalments after the deposit. BillPro shows the Balance (price minus deposit) and the Instalment Amount (balance divided by the count).
3. Choose the Charge Interval: Month, Week, Fortnight, 28 Days, Quarter, Year or Custom. For Custom, enter the interval count and unit, such as every 3 weeks.
4. To stop users changing the deposit and schedule in orders, turn on Lock Payment Configuration. If it's off, users can change the schedule, or sell the product as a single payment.
5. Click Finish.

BillPro creates the product. You can now use it in orders.
