Purchase types

The following table defines the purchase types for products and orders in BillPro.

Purchase type

Description

Single payment

You charge the full purchase price in a single payment. You can add more than one single-payment product to a single-payment order.

To collect a deposit or make a reservation, you can use the pre-authorise option when you create the order. This option secures an amount on the customer's card. You can later collect or reverse the pre-authorisation.

If your merchant can accept payment in instalments, you can split payments for the order. In this case, BillPro will create an instalment order.

Instalment

You charge the price in multiple billing events. You can enter the number of instalments and the interval for charging them. You can enter a deposit amount. BillPro calculates the balance amount by subtracting the deposit from the price. It calculates the instalment amount by dividing the balance by the interval.

If the pricing and payment configuration is not locked, you can deselect the option to split payments. In this case, BillPro will create a single purchase order.

Subscription

You charge a recurring fixed amount (the product price) at regular intervals. The subscription continues until it is cancelled. In the product, you can select whether a fee or a discount applies to the initial payment or all payments. You can define the amount of time between payments.

Metered

For a usage-based scenario, you charge a metered variable amount at a regular or irregular interval. You can accept scheduled and unscheduled payments.
